Head Coach: Stacy Largent
Coach Largent grew up in Rusk, Texas; and later moved to the DFW area just before high school. He attended Rockwall High School, and in his final year of high school, graduated from Trinity Christian Academy in Dallas. Coach Largent was a 3-year letterman in football and 4-year letterman in baseball.
After High School he earned his B.S. degree from Howard Payne University where he pitched for the baseball team, helping his team achieve back-to-back conference titles. Coach Largent has a degree in English and Kinesiology.
Since graduating from college, he has spent the last 24 years teaching and coaching baseball and football in various schools across the great state of Texas. Of those 24 years, he has been a head baseball coach for 14 years. Within those 14 years, his teams have earned 5 district championships, 2 of which were driven by undefeated seasons. Of those 14 seasons, his teams have also made 10 playoff appearances. Coach Largent has been the head baseball coach at Independence High School since the opening of its doors in 2014.
He and his beautiful wife, Suzanne, have 2 wonderful children: Gunner (14), who is an 9th grader at Texoma Christian School, and Taylor (20), who is a sophomore at The University of Texas at Austin. Coach Largent places great value on time with his family. He also enjoys traveling, exercise, and planning for the success of Independence Knight Baseball.
Varsity Assistant: Justin Price
Coach Price grew up in Princeton, TX but graduated from McKinney High School in 2000. He attended Paris Junior College on a baseball scholarship, which is also where he met his wife, Toni. Justin finished his playing career and graduated from The University of Texas at Dallas in 2005 with a BA of Interdisciplinary Studies. In 2006 Coach Price started his career in education and coaching at McKinney High School where he was able to learn the tricks of the trade from the head baseball coach, Jeremy Price, who also happens to be his older brother. The very next year Coach Price was offered the head coaching position at Bland High School, where he spent the next 11 years. Coach Price is beyond excited about the new opportunity of teaching and coaching at Independence High School. He has been married to his Jr. College sweetheart for 14 years, and they have 2 boys - Daylan (10) and Gatlin (4). When not at work, you can find the Price family at Daylan’s practices and games, or in the yard playing.
